Namaste! My name is Mariko, and you can call me mari.
I am a certified RYT 200 yoga teacher based in Ithaca, New York and a yoga teacher trainer for Yoga Alliance-certified RYS 200 Harmony Yoga School in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I’m also an avid creator: I offer services in graphic design, photography, videography and editing, and creative marketing consulting. View my portfolio for more information and work samples.
I lead energizing vinyasa classes, meditative slow flow and yin classes, restorative yoga set to soothing live music (courtesy of my dear guitar Lorelei), yoga nidra (“yogic sleep”) sessions, kirtans, and singing bowl sound healing meditations. I have studied sequencing, alignment, and teaching methodologies with celebrated yoga teachers including Rodney Yee, Colleen Saidman, Amy Ippoliti, and Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts.
I teach with the tenet that there is a yoga for every body. No matter age, weight, mobility issues, or injuries; there are poses, modifications, breathing exercises, and meditations that can help students experience the yogic practice of moving meditation.
I work with my private clients to create customized sequences that are tailored to their abilities and goals. In my group classes, I offer different levels of variations for poses so students can listen to their bodies' inner wisdom to find the right pose for them, allowing space for each student to leave our sessions feeling successful in their practice.
I find unending purpose in my work by bearing witness to the profound physical, emotional, and energetic transformations within my students as they travel with me.
As we join together in silence at the closing of each class, I bear witness to faces that have softened, eyes that have brightened, smiles that have widened—all symptoms of resonance with the student's own basic goodness. I bear witness to manifest proof of the Bhagavad Gita's assertion that "Yoga is the Journey of the Self, Through the Self, To the Self."
“MARI’S TEACHINGS AND CLASSES ARE LIFE-TRANSFORMING.”

In addition to my yoga teaching practice, I have a creative practice as a designer, photographer, videographer, and creative marketing consultant. View work samples and find out more about my services:
